Consultations on V&A for Residents of High Himalaya Communities Vulnerable to Rapid Glacial Melting Impacts

4-28 Sep, 2012 / 08:00 am-05:30 pm

This activity is a part of the USAID Climate Change Resilient Development (CCRD) Project's activity called "Design of a Training Approach for Vulnerability & Adaptation to Impacts from Rapid Glacial Melting in the Himalaya Mountains". An assessment was conducted in Nepal during May 2012 to determine the V&A inputs required for scheduled September 2012 community consultations. This resulted in the design of a July 2012 training-of-trainers, including local Sherpas that will provide designated Nepali counterparts with key facilitation and vulnerability reduction skills to conduct the September trainings. The September 2012 consultations will target three key villages throughout the Khumbu Valley in order to share information from the May ground-penetrating radar (GPR) surveys and providing community members with adaptation capacity skills in order to enable them to better understand and respond to climate variability and events in the years to come.  This event is scheduled for most of the month of September.
